Job Title: GSRP Pre-K Relief Staff
Reports To: GSRP Lead Teacher / Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part-Time, On-Call/As-Needed Basis

Position Summary:

The GSRP (Great Start Readiness Program) Pre-K Relief Staff member provides support in the classroom when regular staff are absent or when additional help is needed. This individual ensures that a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment is maintained for all children. Relief staff must be flexible, dependable, and responsive to the needs of the classroom and school community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support in the classroom during staff absences, assisting with supervision and care of children

• Follow the daily schedule set by the Lead Teacher

• Assist with meal/snack time, toileting, rest time, and outdoor play

• Maintain a clean and safe learning environment

• Help implement developmentally appropriate activities aligned with GSRP standards

• Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, and team members

• Follow all licensing rules, program policies, and health/safety procedures

• Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students

• Maintain confidentiality and respect for all students and families

• Attend required trainings and staff meetings, as applicable

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Experience working with young children preferred

• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with classroom staff

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Must pass required background checks and TB test

• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

• Able to sit, stand, bend, and move frequently throughout the day

• Ability to respond quickly to children’s needs and emergencies
